The Happy Jack-O-Lantern

I've been promising the boys that Daddy would help them carve their pumpkin. So we finally got everything ready and Dave cut off the top. And that's pretty much all he did. He and the boys all started gagging and ran off pinching their noses tightly closed leaving me alone to scoop the goop out of Mr. Pumpkin all by myself. Carson came back in the room and sniffed, then said "it smells wike poopy eggs." Then he vamoosed again gagging as he went. Only once the pumpkin was completely cleaned out and I began to cut him up did the guys slowly trickle back in to watch.
Dave came back in just as my hand was getting tired, so I handed over the knife and let him put the mouth on. I was trying to make a happy "winking" Jack-O-Lantern, but it turned out lookin kinda mean.
Especially in the dark.

A little more fall...

Just a few more fall decor pics...
Even the chandelier is wearing some fall colors.

I'm signing off for a few days! We're having a revival (with my Grandpa, George Stevenson) tonight through Sunday. If any of you are close by, drop in and visit with us! Brad and Gillian Davis are coming to sing for the revival and I'm really looking forward to it. (especially since I don't have to stress about playing the piano!) I'll see you all next week!

My Baby is 5?!

I'm a little sentimental today. Today my little boy turns 5 years old. Can it be possible? Bear with me as I reminisce through some pictures. He was so precious as a big healthy newborn...

And he stayed so cute and chubby through his babyhood...
He and Tippy were the best of buddies. (boy, I miss that dog!)
He was such a cute baby, I couldn't resist things like this. Yes, I actually did this to my child. He'll need therapy, I'm sure.
About that chubby part? I meant it. He weren't called "Bubba" for nothin'.Here's my baby on his first birthday.
Don't forget what I said about chubby... One day he'll hate me for this. After he gets out of therapy. And here he is at 2 years old.

And then at 3...

and 4...

And now he's 5. Oh, wait a minute, where did that chubby little boy go?

I really miss my chubby baby, but I kinda like this tall skinny guy, too.

Happy Birthday Jackson!! Mommy loves you!

Finished Object Friday...a little more scrappin'

For my "Finished Object Friday" this week, I pulled out some of the pages I made several months ago. They've since been auctioned off on Ebay.
I loved making the overalls on this little boy bear.
These ladybug pages could be laid out this way...
Or this way. (I love to work with these bright colors.)
I also like the softer colors...you know, I just like all kinds of colors. The rhinestone snowflakes really add to this "Snow Sweet" page. I have fun putting in little details, like the "fur" in the little girl's boots. She even has shoe laces!
Be sure to visit Chari's blog for more crafty projects!

punkins, Punkins, PUNKINS!

We took the boys out to a pumpkin patch and farm. It was a lot of fun, only it's hard to feel like fall when it's 80 degrees outside! It was a beautiful day...
Here's a little farmer and his prize punkin.
This pretty little calf wasn't very old. So sweet.

The horse was real friendly with David...
I mean REAL friendly...
He just couldn't get enough lovin'.

Riding the wagon out to the patch.
Gotta find that perfect pumpkin.
"I want dis wittle one!"
A cute little punkin for a cute little punkin.
One big happy family riding back with the pumpkins...
These boys had never seen this much corn before. They were just happy it wasn't on their plates... It's much more fun to play in.

Mommy's littlest punkin.

Mommy's TWO little punkins.
It's been a very busy couple of weeks, and from the looks of it, it's not slowing down any time soon! Dave was off work for Columbus Day (gotta loves those government jobs!) so we enjoyed having him home. He helped me plant some mums and azaleas before we all went to the pumpkin patch. He even managed to hang some of the new cabinets in the kitchen. Yeah, you heard me right. We're STILL working in the kitchen. But it's coming along pretty good. I'll post more pictures as we get more of it done, you know, some time in the next 10 years or so...

We Have A WINNER!!

I like to do things the old school way. I know there is a random number picking website out there somewhere, but where's the fun in that? I mean, can you really call that a "drawing"? Nahh, I don't think so. I put the names of all of those who left comments in a hat (compliments of Jackson) and my sweet hubby did the honors for me. Honey, the envelope, please...

And it looks like we have a winner! Congratulations to Melissa of the Farmgirl Report! I hope you enjoy these pages as much as I enjoyed scrapping them. Oh, yes, "scrap" is now a verb. You know, just like "blog". Thanks to all of you who participated! You guys were all great sports to humor me and my little contest. I even got to "meet" new people this way. I hope you continue to visit even when I'm not giving something away. And let me say I loved reading through every single comment. Either you are all very very kind, or you thought flattery would help you win. The jury's still out on that one. And for all of you who want a scrapbooking buddy, you just come on over. I'd love it. For that matter, even if you DON'T want a scrapbooking buddy, you come on over anyway. You can watch my kids while I scrapbook. Ok Ok, I jest. Anyway, thanks again for each comment.
Oh, and stayed tuned...I just might do this again sometime. ;-)

Post Number 100 !!!

When I started this whole blogging thing, I never thought anyone would actually be interested. I still can't believe it when I glance over there to my "counter". Has this piddly little site actually been visited over 12 thousand times?! Wow, I've even managed to snag a few "followers". I don't know what brings you back time after time, but let me say THANK YOU!
Thank you all for taking the time to read my silly posts, and thank you for all of the kind comments that have been left. Sometimes, those comments are just the "pick-me-up" that I need. This blog has actually been sort of a therapy for me. I am NOT an outgoing person, I have a terrible time talking to people, and so through the years I have kept to myself, and stayed in my own little comfort zone. But when I type, I can talk. I guess because nobody's standing right there in front of me, intimidating me. So it has been good for me. I have a much easier time "meeting " friends through cyber space.

So to celebrate the 100th post and to say THANK YOU to all you readers,

(insert drum roll here)

*add a little space for suspense*

I have a prize to giveaway! I created a 2 page scrapbook layout called "Fall Fun". All you gotta do is add your own photos or journaling.

I've grown kinda partial to this little guy, I might just have to make one for myself.
Everything on these pages (except the flowers) is handmade. So it's truly an original!
All you have to do to enter is leave a comment under this post. We'll put the numbers in a hat and draw one out to pick the winner. I guess we need a few rules, huh? Lets see... Okay, One entry per person, no entries after midnight Saturday night. Winner will be announced right here, Monday morning.

Good Luck!!

Astronauts and Altar Boys

Introducing......(drum roll please)....The World's Smallest Astronaut!
The boys are learning about The God of Space in Sunday School. Jackson has been so excited about getting to wear the space suit and helmet. I'm sure you can't possibly tell he's a wee bit proud of himself...
Here's Jackson with his wonderful teacher, affectionately known as "Brother Linda". Note of explanation: When Jackson was small, he got all the Brothers and Sisters mixed up, and for some reason, "Brother Linda" just stuck. Now, that's what they all call her.
And I can't leave out The World's Smallest Usher!
He takes his job pretty seriously. Just don't tell anyone our usher has an attitude problem. He refused to collect Jackson's quarters this morning. Give the boy a position and it all goes to his head...
