A dear friend of ours recently gave me the sweetest little china cabinet! It had been in her family for years, it belonged to her grandmother. I pretty much did a happy dance when I saw it and realized it is very similar to the one my own granny had. (I've always loved granny's cabinet and wished I could have gotten it!)
Forgive me, but the only before pic I took was from my iPhone, so it's not real stellar. At least you can get an idea...
Somebody put some country decals on it - I'm guessing in the 80's, when country blue and ducks were all the rage. And they didn't get them all exactly straight... This pic was taken after we'd already scraped some decals off the glass.
I had a grand ole time painting her up in a pretty aqua blue!
I just love it!
Happy happy happy =)
The paint color is "Watery" from Sherwin Williams. After I painted it, I distressed it a touch and rubbed some coffee colored glaze all over it.
It was during the glazing process that I had to explain to my 7 year old, just exactly why I *wanted* it to look old and dirty. And that I only liked certain things to look slightly worn and dirty, and that no, his room was not one of those things... He still doesn't get it. He wandered off shrugging his shoulders and saying, "Huh. And I thought you wanted to make our house look *nice*." Bless his little heart...
I knew as soon as I brought it home that I wanted to paint it blue and fill it with white dishes - I think they're just perfect for each other ;) I put them in there pretty quick and willy nilly, so they may get rearranged a few times before it's all said and done.
It's such a bright spot in the dining room!
The little guys have finished their last day of school, so we're only too happy to get our summer started!

What a charming piece! That is the prettiest shade of blue and I just love how your white dishes pop against it!
Love it! I have a seven year old who has asked all the same questions, too! =)
What a beautiful piece! Enjoy the summer break.
Very pretty! I love the color you chose.
Beautiful cabinet and paint colour. Kids are so cute and say the funniest things. I love the way they think don't you? Blessings, Pamela
Beautiful color! Works perfectly with the white dishes. I'd be doing a happy dance, too! :)
I love it! We scored a dresser out of our neighbor's trash. Carried it in complete in Sunday shoes. :)
Your son cracks me up!!
I'm in love! What a sweet little cupboard!
Nice cupboard, and nice redo job!
Brittany, your cabinet is gorgeous!!! I love it in the lovely blue, it would be perfect in my own dining room, in fact, when I get my old china cabinet back I might try that colour on it...thank you for the inspiration.
Hugs, Cindy

Hey, Brittany, I just posted a post with a picture of me carrying my purse from you...and linked to your blog in case anyone wanted to buy one.
How do you like that? Free Advertisement. =) =) =)
Hope your summer is going great.
Love,

Thanks for your fun comment on my Father's Day post. How fun that you know David and Janet. David Spivey and my Phillip went to the Christian school that the Gospel Center Church had (that's the church that Phillip pastored) when they were in the 9th grade.
And we've known Janet since our AZ days...she attended our Gospel Center church for awhile...so Phillip was her pastor. She's a dear and we LOVE going shopping together. Just went shopping last night for our WEAKNESS....Shoes. =)
Hoping you are having a Blessed Summer! =)

I found a cabinet just like this on the side of the road. The bones are good but it needs a little love. The most difficult of which, in my mind anyway, is one of the upper door with the glass insert is missing. Any tips to rebuilding it? Was thinking about just not having upper doors but in my mind that just looks incomplete. Any tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
